Summer in Cambria

We enjoy spending our summer staying closer to home, enjoying time to drink our morning coffee on the deck greeting the birds and neighbors. Mike has tennis on Mondays and music on Sundays. Sue goes walking or hiking most days often with friends, loves being involved with the UUCC and helping to pick up hwy trash and serving at the food bank. We are truly part of this small coastal community.

Bixby at 16 is driving and when he has time
in his busy summer, he comes and takes us to lunch.

Mike and I take off to spend time in Sequoia and Kings Canyon.
We stay first in a cabin on the river in Three Rivers.
We walked to the Three Rivers Brewing company for dinner.
Local fun vibe.

We made tea with our backpacking stove
and enjoyed watching the river rafters
floating down the river.

The Big trees are always wonderful

But the river forking in the canyon below seems to draw us.

We stay at Cedar Grove Lodge, a place that
I have stayed before
after our backpack into Rae Lakes

Rustic lodgings right on the River,
simple food eaten outside,
walks on the trails, a wonderful time together.

Our apple trees hang heavy with delicious fruit.

We sometimes see our local fox

Sue enjoys the coastal walks with friends

Hearst Ranch zebras on the horizon

We give the RV a run and enjoy the ocean at Cuyucos

We enjoy Taco Tuesday and games with our friends,
Barrett and Diane aka Lady Tie Di
competing for honorary mayor of Cambria.
That friendly competition also included
a pie eating contest at the 4th of July picnic.

Our friend Chris and her daughter Stephanie
and her 3 boys came to enjoy the beach

Chris and I enjoyed the hike to and tour
of the Avila lighthouse.

We always enjoy our dynamic UUCC Operations committee
meeting once a month to help "run" the UU

Kelly treats us to dinner at Andersons at the Castle

We are so grateful to live in a beautiful place
and enjoy our family and good friends.
