We spent from April 22nd till May 16th in Englewood.... suburb of Dayton...Ohio visiting Cameron and his family and celebrating 3 graduations. Our first few hours were spent catching up, admiring the guitars that Cameron and Jack made in a class at Sinclair, and I got a chance to help Arlo with his homework!!!...for an elective music class. The engineering stuff is way over my head.
We had a ride on Cameron's bike
Played some canasta
Arlo final Capstone project at Wright University, was to
design and build for GE Aerospace,
a machine to test the strength of seals.
At the expo he presented his project.
In Cameron's backyard we were treated
to the new engineers...mainly Cameron, the senior one,
firing up jet engines that he had built.
It was fun and noisy and powerful!!!
Arlo was ready with the fire extinguisher.
We light a fire and roasted hot dogs and smores
At Sinclair college, where Cameron is on the faculty as
part of the research and development department
of the Unmanned Aircraft program,
Jack graduated this year with a degree in Engineering.
His final Capstone project was to design and build a
prototype for a transmission for a Baja Bug.
He showed us his model and
presented it at his expo at Sinclair.
At Wright University, Arlo was sworn in
to the Order of Engineers.
He wears the official ring.
His was the first graduation.
He managed to find us in the huge stadium and wave
We met back at his apartment after,
and then headed to the pub for lunch.
It was also my 75th birthday!
At some point we managed to take photos
of all three graduating Davis boys.
Great pride for Cameron and his 2 sons
We met Mikes sister Sharon and her husband Mike
for lunch.
Jack shows us around the 3D printing lab at Sinclair.
Time for Cameron and Jack to Graduate.
They received special recognition
for being the only father son graduates this year.
Cameron received his second degree in
unmanned aircraft, drones, and Jack a degree in
mechanical engineering degree.
Both Dani and Arlo were sick for the ceremony...
and later Mike and I caught a flu and passed it on.
That was unfortunate, but we all survived
Cameron and Jack got to walk and sit together
as part of the STEM department ....
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
Arlo invited us to a pasta dinner at his apartment
the night before we left. It was wonderful.
Cameron and Tina were at a concert
and we had the young people to keep us company.
The new engineering brothers had a lively debate
to answer a question Nana asked.
Jack cooked me a perfect eggs benedict.
Sadly, while we were there we learned
about the passing of our friend Nate.
He founded and put on the Cambria car show
and will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with his son Andre
Before we left we enjoyed camping at
Morro Bay with Cynthia and Jim.
I hiked around Whale rock reservoir
with Kathy, Michelle and Eden and Lily,
and celebrated my friends Chris and Lucy.
Our Monday walking group ...with dogs, is still going strong.
Bixby and his school friends picked up the trash with me.
I think that we are all caught up....for now...
but there are always good thing still to come in our lives.
