This year Bixby had spent a couple of days with us so we left on the Wednesday in the RV to spend the night at Kellys before leaving. But....not the way to start a trip...with a tire failure on the 46 hwy, just a few miles from home.
Bixby and I found a cool place to wait and
the guys from Cambria came to change the tire
Bixbys always happy to explore the nature
After buying 6 new tires and stocking up with grocery's
...we were ready to get going the next day.
Everyone tries to time getting to the campground
gate at 3pm Thursday and the fun begins.
We line up in a big dirt field
and "hang out" till 8am Friday morning,
Its the LIVE OAK WAY and we all love it.
We find people we know, chat and play games.
There is jamming at night, lots of visiting
and the excitement builds.
The next morning we all move into the campground to
pick the best spot. This year we needed space for the
RV, Kelly and Brians VW camper
and their friends family tent.
The kids hang together and enjoy the independence
of being able to roam.
The adults enjoy jamming
And try to sing along !!
Shower and hair washing is primitive
as we are all crowded in together and
we don't have hookups
The main stage has plenty of shade
under the oaks and its is a hot weekend.
Lots of dancing
Bixby learns to knit a new stitch.
We see Cambrian friends the Cochrans.
A great children's area is set up inside the festival.
It included a rock cairn building area, fairy garden,
and ephemeral art shell and rock design.
The kids spent most of their time there
while we listened to great music.
Our kids thought up a game to bury each other in the bird seed.
Then they asked us to come over and they revealed themselves.
There's a kid under that hat !!
Ready to jump up.
There was a birds nest in this hole and we watched the
parents go in to feed noisy, chirping babies.
Water sprayers helped us stay cool
and the Peace, Love and Beer tent stay hydrated.
A great time had by all.
