One of our favorite things to do at sunset is to go down to the bluffs. Here is a particularly good time last week with our local friends Sabina, Bill, Di, and Karen. Mike took the photos.

Valentines Day
The view from Nepenthe, Big Sur. Great dessert !!!
At Julia Burns State Park there is a waterfall that falls directly into the ocean
Mike loves his new/used Honda CRZ It is a hybrid and gets at least 40 mpg. It has thrown us into the age of voice activated technology. We just said " Take us to Nepenthe" and it took us there !!!!
At the end of the day we met an English couple in one of the view areas. They were driving north after attending The Grammy awards. The guy worked with Adelle. They offered to take our photo.
Mulching the Gleason orchard
While Mike and Kelly were working on the chicken coop last week, Bixby and I mulched the fruit trees. When he saw me with the camera taking a picture he looked at me sternly and said "Help please Nana"
After a while Bixby moved on to making a "house" out of a long strip of paper packing.
"Come in Granddad. I will open the door" "Goodbye. I'll close the door after you"

Planting in memory of Marc
This week we planted wild current bushes on The Ranch over looking the ocean. We thought of our friend Marc Glickman who passed away this week. He loved the ocean and had walked on The Ranch with us last summer. We will think of him as we watch these plants grow.

The first Lupines
This week we noticed the first lupines on the bluffs this season. One of my favorite children's books is "Miss Rumphius " which it is about a teacher who retires to live at the coast. She continues her passion to make the world a more beautiful place by strewing lupine seeds along the bluffs. My friend and co-teacher Shannon gave me the book last year. I have always felt like a "Miss Rumphius" and am glad to see these flowers grow wild here.
Grinding holes
On our sunset walk on the headlands we finally found the Native American grinding holes. It was magical imagining ourselves as those natives were hundreds of years ago.
