More from our stay at home...except for walking...

Mike and I are still staying away from others...Mike has gone to the store a couple of times for essentials. We still go out walking at least once a day and Mike is still playing tennis. We find that we spend most of our day on our sunny deck. The garden has never looked so good and we have been trimming our oak trees. Mike is practicing songs for when we can get together with our friends again. I have been doing some meetings on Zoom with some of my committees and my nature connection friends who are offering webinars and zoom classes.

Those friends are inspiring me to forage
for edible plants and eat something
from my environment every day.
We have oranges and lemons,
parsley, oregano and cilantro,
and tender dandelions which are
delicious in salads.
This is one of my favorite "noshing" spots
 on the Moonstone Boardwalk
Mustard and radish flowers are my favorite
sweet and spicy and crunchy...mmmmm

I sit near the native grinding holes,
a good source of sweet rainwater
if I needed it.
I do love this town and its coastline.

This week we enjoyed an ongoing "chat" at a distance,
with a photographer from Bakersfield,Kevin Roland,
who has photographed wildlife all over the world
and here he has discovered our hummingbirds
on the Pride of Madeira plants.

Nice additions to my salad....
and very healthy...

Getting lots of exercise

I think the Fitbits Mike and I have help us get lots of exercise to balance out the time spent at home reading and gardening. The bush lupines and other flowers are beginning to bloom on the local bluffs where we all walk in one direction to aid in social distancing. We aim for 10,000 steps a day.

The unique benches on the Fiscalini Ranch
are always a popular place to sit and
look for whales spouting

The wildlife is abundant

Enjoying down time and slowing down the virus

Things change fast and now we are sheltered at home...but still allowed to go out walking as long as we dont meet in a group and we practice social distancing. We are actually enjoying life at a slower pace....Sitting on our deck, reading, gardening, and catching up on jobs around the house. We have already rebuilt two toilets, fixed the leak in the RV sink and trimmed trees.

Bixbys special meatloaf

Last week we had Bixby here for a few days
while his mom and dad were
still at work and he was off school.

We traded Bixby for Toilet Paper last Friday
and now everyone is working from home.

We can still go out and walk
and there are great uncrowded places near by.

The earth under our feet

We no longer can get together to play
music with our friends
but Mike practices for when we can
share music once again.

Mike also loves to cook so we have
been eating well.
Yesterday he baked doughnuts.
Its a good thing that we walk a lot !!

Wishing you and your family good health.
