For the last few years I have chosen to go camping at Santa Margarita Lake for my birthday. I usually invite a few friends to come and hang out with us. This year we had plans....but the RV was still in the shop getting new slideout mechanisms, it was supposed to be cold and rainy and Mike had an injured knee. The trip was saved by my friend Michelle and her two lovely daughters who decided to stick with their plans to camp with me. So I borrowed my old VW camper from Kelly and off we went.
We were so lucky. Not a drop of rain.
Lily and Eden set the fire.
Lily is always creating
inventing new fishing techniques
Very relaxing sitting on the dock
Boiling water for tea in the jet boil
Eden produced a delicious pasta salad
We did a science experiment
trying to find the iron in cereal.
The lake was beautiful in the cloudy lighting
We had fun rocking the dock
The fire is ready to light
I am honored with a birthday crown
and the first smores
Sticky smores are a treat
scary stories are shared
The next morning walk
find Lily with rabbits ears
Eden finds a rope to swing over the lake
Lily wants to build a raft
Eden fishing rig
the sway of the dock is very restful
A hike reveals some lovely wild flowers.
I am offered to make a wish
A cuddle in the VW
I always enjoy the conversations
A great Birthday indeed
Today a walk to a San Simeon beach.
We call it the sand dune beach
