saying goodbye to my mom and a couple of days camping with Bixby.

GWENDOLINE JEAN FARMER
February 26th 1929 - August 11th 2019
A loving wife, mother, Grandmother, and Great grandmother, Gwen died August 11th at Creston Village in Paso Robles with her husband Oscar and daughter Sue by her side.
She was born to Gladys (nee Jordan) and Percy Gainsford in Birmingham, England in 1929.       As a child, Gwen was evacuated during the war, then attended Mosley Art School. She went to work at the age of 16 for the architectural firm of Harris and Sheldon, where her major projects included designing shop mannequins and refitting the Queen Mary.  It was there that she met Oscar (Horace George) Farmer and they married in 1949. They had four children, Suzanne, Simon, William and Maxwell (died 1956).
The family emigrated to the United States in 1965, settling in Sherman Oaks. Gwen taught art history in the public school system, painting and life drawing at Everywoman’s Village and was a founding member of Artist Co-Op 7. Gwen and Oscar taught a Sunday morning art class for adults at the University of Judaism for 7 years. She worked with her husband and son in their Architectural design business before moving to Cambria in 2014. Gwen spent her last few months in Creston Village Memory Care and the family wishes to thank them for the loving care they gave her. She touched everyone with her positive, make the best of it attitude.
Gwen and Oscar travelled extensively in their 70 years together, having adventures, experiencing other cultures and expanding their artistic horizons. She was the matriarch of a family she loved and enjoyed and will be in our hearts always. We will celebrate her life as family and friends come to Cambria. (contact Sue at mdavis5855@gmail.com)
From Gwen’s artist biography “I believe the artist is a filter through which life’s experiences flow, to be reborn in a very personal form on the canvas. All emotions can be expressed through the arts and if one can remain receptive and open, one’s life will be greatly enriched”

My mom passed away and even though we will miss her it was a relief as she was not happy her last week. She had a great 90 years. We miss her but will have her in our hearts forever.

It felt good to go camping for a couple of days.
We took Bixby as he still has a couple of weeks
before going back to school.

Alex and his wife Kristen visit.
We go to the Carlton hotel for dinner.

The lighting was not good
but we realize the importance
of recording family with photos.

Mom created a tremendous amount
of work in her lifetime.
I have been sorting all
of the photos of her work.

Then we were off to Santa Margarita Lake
for a couple of days. It was hot but we had shade
in our favorite spot.

Food always tastes good outside.
