Life goes on, Superbloom and a couple of days camping

So much can happen in a month. Mom went wandering out of the house while dad was fixing lunch, went down the dirt road and fell. The EMT's found her and she spent a week in the hospital with facial wounds, some small bones in her neck and hand fractured and cuts and bruises. She is now in Creston Village Memory Care and has adjusted to life there as best she can. Here is the latest picture when we visited her Saturday. Dad misses her and is still adjusting, but Kelly and I are helping both.
They have been married 70 years tomorrow.
A big improvement from a few weeks ago
when we took a picnic to rehab..
Mike and I managed to take a day trip with friends
to see the super bloom of wild flowers in the Carrizo Plain.

We explored Soda Lake

And our own attempt at making seed paper
which actually sprouted

We took a couple of days to camp with friends
at Plaskett Creek near Big Sur

Everything is so green and lush

We hike along the bluff trail

Back at camp the ladies
 do a crossword puzzle together
 While the men practice chess

And the dogs take a nap.

Janet and Joel arrive and put up their tent

Before Kathy leaves she shares Chicken Wings

Mike is in charge of the burgers.

Randy is in charge of the fire

Later Mike brings out his soda bread
to go with the chocolate pudding
and whipped cream for dessert.

And a  silly group picture is taken

Randy explains how to play Apples to Apples
A good time was had by all
This Sunday we took part in the Greenspace Earth Day
I had a booth highlighting our Nature Club.

Adrian stopped by and created nature
 art representing a deer,
including grass for the deer to eat..

Then he enjoyed the box building in the kid zone,
rolling a car down the tube trying to land in the cup.
The creativity of children always impresses me.

Mike helped to set up the music
 And our Unitarian Universalists  friends
gave away the seed paper we lovingly made together.
