Pinnacles

We have just returned from a fun few days camping with our friends at Pinnacles National Park, our newest National Park and a hidden gem. Mike and I and Marsha and Steve traveled in the motor home to provide a little luxury to the trip. But there were still a few tents to erect, and thanks to Randy, a challenge to put his up without poles. (The poles decided to stay home in his garage !)

Marsha great idea of using hiking poles, string and rocks

Randy had to sit in the smoky naughty chair for forgetting the poles
While his wife Mary vented to a sympathetic Ken.

Mike lit the BBQ and cooked us a wonderful Tri Tip.

Janet made us strawberry shortcake for dessert.

The next morning was chilly but warmed with coffee

We were joined by Jon and Judy and set off to hike the high peaks trail

Jon took some of these photos with his good camera.

We will hike across that ridge of pinnacles in the background

We made sure we didn't get lost

We looked for condors along the way.

After lunch we tackled the steep part

We rested at the top

Its a popular place for rock climbing

                                         We went through the caves

Then back for music, fun and another good meal

The next morning we had breakfast in the motor home

The guys worked together to pack up Kens tent
                                                             Ken had his own system

And started a trend as other tent carriers joined the parade.

The end of a good trip with wonderful friends

And a few more pictures taken by Janet.
