looking for Red Legged Frogs

A few weeks ago I was asked to become an official red legged frog spotter !!!!  Some much needed erosion control was to be done on the Fisilini Ranch ( the bluffs the go for a couple of miles along the ocean at the bottom of our road.) A small group of 6 of us, including 2 trainers from Fish and Game, met at 8pm and were trained to walk the creek looking for frogs. As it got dark we looked for "eye shine". Only one little green frog was found and the only eye shine was from a moth. As the construction occurred the following week one of us had to be on duty at all time, looking wherever there was digging going on, at the ready to jump out to stop the work if a frog was spotted !!! The project was completed without any interruptions and now the next step is for us to plant the area.Life is very full and varied here in Cambria.
