Back to Camping, and adjusting to social distancing activities.

We had a treat this week. Our favorite Santa Margarita Lake opened up a few camping spots to locals and we were lucky enough to get one of the last spots.Kelly and Bixby joined us as we were a "family unit". The wild life was happy to see us...

We took a favorite hike on the Grey Pine trail

There were lots of wild flowers

Bixby led the way with the snake stick.
We saw 2 snakes, one beautiful King snake
that Mike and I saw, and a large Gopher snake
on this trail.

Clouds in the sky were a hint of
the rain that came the next day.
The temp went from over 100, to about 85 this day
to 72 the next day...

After lunch we tried fishing from a near by dock
I think the person before us had snagged the big ones.

Lots of time to chat and play games

 Time to cook sausages

And a bit of screen time

 Popsicle's for a treat...Yeet
 A morning hike before leaving

A race up the hill

 And down again
This week included:
Making bird houses out of gourds
An open mic for Mike on zoom
 A neighborhood roof concert
A non zoom meeting in the sand dunes
 Love Covid style
And friendship at a social distance

social distancing...the new norm

We are feeling safer outside and at a safe distance at the beach and on wider trails, so for the first time in almost 2 months we shared an hour at the beach with Bixby and Kelly....mostly at a distance...unnatural  for Bixby and I to do...but at least he is family. Playing tug of war with the kelp was fun.....and I fell on my butt...a few times.!!!  It felt good to just interact...and touch through the rope.

Meanwhile, back in the garden our cactus blooms
and we continue to trim our trees

Another walk to a beach today
keeping a social distance but
still able to have some good conversation.

May 2nd....a birthday for Sue

I cant believe that I am one year shy of 70....but I feel great. We decided to mark the celebration Covid shelter at home style.....with a family Zoom birthday party.

Crazy family stuff
Kids in masks, trying out special effects,
Bixby hanging up side down in space,
Arlo with full gas mask, Jacks smiley mask...
Aislinn looking so grown up.
Dani in her hoodie...
Tina, Kelly and Cameron and Mike
just enjoying it.
and..of course.
Me the birthday girl.
The best treat ever.

And my own crazyness
modeling my mask made from a cup cake paper
and a very valuable gift...

Then Mike and I walked the Ranch,
which is in full bloom.

 My favorite Tidy Tips

Then time to cook dinner.
Mike rocking out playing air guitar
and me dancing to the Beatles
Twist and Shout"

And a little baby Chick a dee that
hatched in one of our nesting
boxes. We witnessed its first flight.

I often walk down Fern Canyon
to go to my dads to pick up his mail.
