A weekend at Santa Margarita...and a fun 5K.

This weekend began with a good steep hike to get a birds eye view of Santa Margarita Lake
Bixby led the way...with Kelly and I scrambling after. Wonderful birds flew over...Bald Eagles, Ospreys and a very large hawk...or as someone thought, a golden Eagle.

Then Bixby and I took the Kayak our,
launching right from our campsite

He kicked back a bit as he
had just recovered from the flu.

He tried to explore  the area between two islands
that has been damed but we had left our shoes behind.

Kellys creative binocular view from shore.
 Coming in for a landing

After rescuing a neat fishing lure from the reeds.
No its not wine...but definitely happy hour.

And time for a quick nap
before an evening of card games.

 Sunday morning...time for the 5K run/walk
to remember Brittni and Brynn Frace,
sisters who were sadly killed in a car accident
a couple of years ago.
Kelly worked with their dad Warren
and the run funds the foundation formed
in their memory.

Its an early morning for all..

Bixby checks out his shoes feel good.
Its his first event and he likes the socks
and hat, part of the "goodies".

After a rousing anthem played with trumpets,
We were off...with nearly 400 others.
We did the 5 K walk/run but there was also a 10K.

My friends Chris and Lucy were there,
and Kellys co-worker Phil and wife Mary.

We did some running..and some walking.

A really pretty day.

And the finish line.
I made it before Bix and Kelly
because I run a bit more, but they  did a great 3 miles..

And the city planning team, Warren who is now at Paso,
Phil and Kelly from Atascadro .
A great way to remember Warrens daughters.

Matthew hands his mom water at the finish line.

 A good game of Jenga

Did I mention that  Bixby likes the socks?

Tired but accomplished...Yeet !!!!

A different Christmas...

Our Christmas celebration turned out different than we had planned. It all started out good with us picking up my dad and going over to Kellys. Bixby was not feeling so good but managed to open gifts....a good time...and we managed  a cup of coffee and a bit of lunch...

Notice the wrapped bucket shaped gift
under the tree...It ended up saving the day

Nana had to play Santa
as Bixby snuggled on the couch

He managed to pose in his
new head gear and shirt

Before he said"My tummy hurts..
I need a bucket " and then threw up.....
 We decided to leave
to protect ourselves from the germs.
Kelly and Bixby enjoyed  a quiet
afternoon snuggled up watching movies,
At home, Mike and I continued to have fun
chatting with our son and his family in Ohio.
We exchanged pictures of the day.

 Cameron with his new wok...
big enough for his family of 6.
Arlo and Jack with their step sisters
Aislinn and Dani.

The girls loved their unicorn snugglies
and the boys their cool hoodies

Mike and I ended the evening with our usual
games of Skip Bo.

And I got to have a whole mince pie to myself...
Oh wait a minute....
no one else likes Mince pie anyway. !!! Yumm...
Not the Christmas day we planned, but good just the same.

And to all a good night.

Thanksgiving fun

We hung around and acted like turkeys at Kellys for Thanksgiving.
Bixby  devised several games on the trampoline and when we needed a rest, we played Skip Bo.
Nana even joined Bixby in a fast game of Mario Cart.

Our 16 year old grandson Arlo
is getting interested in drawing
and he sent us a couple.
