Our friend Brad came by today and told us that the Humpback whales were feeding right off the pier at San Simeon. We had seen them from the Cayucos pier on Wednesday but off we went to see them again. I think there were more today and apparently they have been there for 3 days according to our ranger neighbor Ian. Mike took some photos.

Yosemite
Then we were off for a few days in Yosemite. Jack and Arlo had not been yet and they found it "AWESOME"
We stayed in the Camp Curry tent cabins. The boys immediately found a big rock to climb
Unfortunately Jack had a stomach bug the first night but still managed to hike to Vernal falls the next day. He was a trooper and he was proud of himself that he "made the whole day without throwing up" I told him that he would be my inspiration t when I return to hike the John Muir trail later in the summer.
Arlo sketched Half Dome
Jack always finds the wildlife and came up with many ways to use his bandana
We had time to look for climbers on El Capitan on the way out of the park. There were not many as there had been rain and thunder and lightening the night before.
We spotted a mama bear and her cub and had a last look at the big trees in the Mariposa grove.
I flew the boys back to Ohio a few days later after a wonderful month together.

And of course we had to cross the meadow calling for "Elmer"
