Enjoying down time and slowing down the virus

Things change fast and now we are sheltered at home...but still allowed to go out walking as long as we dont meet in a group and we practice social distancing. We are actually enjoying life at a slower pace....Sitting on our deck, reading, gardening, and catching up on jobs around the house. We have already rebuilt two toilets, fixed the leak in the RV sink and trimmed trees.
 RV sink leak...fixed
Bixbys special meatloaf

Last week we had Bixby here for a few days
while his mom and dad were
still at work and he was off school.

We traded Bixby for Toilet Paper last Friday
and now everyone is working from home.

We can still go out and walk
and there are great uncrowded places near by.

 Wild flowers are in bloom

The clouds roll in

The earth under our feet

We no longer can get together to play
music with our friends
but Mike practices for when we can
share music once again.

Mike also loves to cook so we have
been eating well.
Yesterday he baked doughnuts.
Its a good thing that we walk a lot !!

Wishing you and your family good health.

Santa Margarita Lake....again

This is a view of Santa Margarita Lake...but from the Sandstone trail near the east end off the lake where the Salinas River enters the lake. I took this picture last week as I hiked the trail with my friends Chris and Lucy. I will show this same trail from the water from our kayak.

This week we camped at our usual
RV spot at Santa Margarita Lake.
We took the kayak out.

 The lake was glassy smooth
 With lots of contrails
That is the trail above the Lake
It was more difficult to access from the water
but I landed and tried, but too much brush and mud.
I will have to leave it for another day.
There is supposed to be a waterfall in the canyon.

So we went off to explore where the river comes in.

We discovered where the
white pelicans were hanging out.

Then we saw a Golden Eagle
sitting in a near by tree

We were able to float right under it
before it quickly flew away with
its massive wing span

Earlier we had seen one swoop and scoop a fish
out of the lake right in front of us

 Magnificent birds and increasing
in numbers at this Lake

Then we thought he was following us
as a bird flew into a tree ahead of us.

On closer look this is a juvenile Bald Eagle
another bird increasing in numbers here.

The white tail and slightly different head markings
were our clue...then it flew

I love the different layers of color
in the grasses.

We stop at our favorite boat in camp
for lunch

Three Golden Eagles were hanging out at the point.

A wonderful day on the water

Last week dad came to Cambria for lunch on his deck.
He is feeling good.

Mike and I watched a surfing contest at Morro Bay
