and another Bixby day

Yummy treat for our Halloween Party.
Worms in dirt and Owl veggies
Bixby came over for a Friday together
First he looked at his rocks he polished.
Then he opened a Birthday gift
Native American stamp set for leather
He is very interested in Native symbals
as they have studied them at school.
He and granddad made stamped key fobs.
Bixby told a story with his symbols.
Then we were off for a hike in the forest.

Up to the Native site where 200 Chumash
lived hundreds of years ago.
We sifted through the dirt the animals had bought
to the surface looking for anything
that could be an artifact from long ago.
Lots of shells and abalone pieces
and stone that could have been worked.

On the way back a visit to the Grandmother Oak tree.
To wonder and climb.

 A lovely day

Another hike and a day with Bixby

This week Chris, Lucy and I hiked to the top of Three Bridges Preserve in Atascadero.

Bixby likes to do jigsaw puzzles.

Bixby and Mike make shakers out of dried giant kelp

We load up a new load of rocks to polish

And we give peanuts to Blue Jay

Granddad teaches him some native American games

A whistle

Rubbing the game pieces on the oil of the nose

Toss the pieces and count how many up and down

Another great day with Bixby.
