Bixby's 3rd birthday

Bixby turned 3 a couple of weeks ago and Kelly and Brian put on a fantastic construction themed party at Atascadero Park.

The goodies reflected the theme

This demolition game was very popular. The kids were intended to roll the wrecking ball to
knock down the boxes but it didn't take long for Lila and Bixby to figure out that they could ride the ball. Poppa Gleason enjoyed being a part of the action.

Bixby received things on his wish list including a dump truck, scooter and bug catching stuff plus his favorite Thomas train toys and other wonderful things. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIXBY

The Big Sur Jade Festival

We joined our friends Brad and Rhaelyn and Jon and Judy on a drive up the coast to the Jade Festival. This is held at a public school just south of Big Sur. I enjoyed the beautiful location and outdoor feel of this school. The teacher I spoke with said the children had spent the last few days on the ridge studying the monarch butterflies. Right up my alley.

Our friend Brad jumped right in to the drumming.
(He is in the light green shirt. We met him soon after moving to Cambria and discovered that he and Mike were in 4th grade together at St. Cyril's in Encino. They have photos to prove it !!)

Lots of jade to look at

Trees to climb and swings with an ocean view

And tight rope walkers

Deals to be made and conversations

And music

Then down to the beach to look for our own jade

Four generational visit

We were blessed with another four generational get together early October.

Great Grandparents Nana Gwen and Grandad Oscar had fun playing with Bixby

Grandad Oscar hand painted a customised village scene tops that fit on Bixby's toy box

It was warm enough for Bixby to be "naked boy" and for us to eat outside on the deck.

We ended with music, Bixby and grandad on the mandolin

A Sunday at Camp Ocean Pines

A few sundays ago a  Peace/Love/Storytelling day was held at our local Camp Ocean Pines. This beautiful property over looking the ocean used to be a kids camp but now it is also a place where adults go for workshops and retreats. They have built some new hay bale cabins decorated with murals honoring famous artists. The owner, Chris cameron gave us a tour and them let us try our hand at tomahwk throwing and archery. Mike was asked to supervise the tomahawk throwing, teaching several excited first timers.
