Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving day at Kelly and Brians house.It included a pre dinner walk, music with Bixbys drum set, and Bix and Jack whipping up the cream for the wonderful pies. Unfortunately Jack had a black eye from a richoshaying rock at the beach the day before. At least the swelling had gone by the next day.

A great time at the beach

Our son Cameron and his two boys Arlo (8) and Jack(6) came from Ohio for a week last week. We shared this wonderful time on the" driftwood fort" beach with our daughter Kelly and Bixby (2). Mike and I were in 7th heaven spending time outdoors in such a beautiful setting with "our boys".Thank you Kelly for taking most of these pictures to record our day.

I really am thankful for my exposure to Richard Louvs books "Last Child in the Woods" and "The Nature Principle" and the wonderful opportunity to develop my convictions and practices as a teacher with "The Outdoor Classroom Project". I truly enjoy allowing children time to explore and create in the outdoor environment and value the importance of these experiences in all of our lives.

Day at the beach

We had a great day at the beach today with Kelly and Bixby. Usually Mike says that I "take him on a forced march" on the bluffs to get excercise but with Bixby with us today he drew our attention to every little detail. It was low tide so that we could go down to the beach. On the way home we stopped for a photo at Bixby's street !!
